moony

Monica Bragato aka Moony was born in Venice Italy and she’s got her first approach with music when she was very little. To be precise she was 3 years old when she used to “dance” and “sing” while her father (when he was young he was a well esteemed swing drummer) used to hold her in his arms and whistle some old songs. The following Christmas she asked Santa Clause a Hi-Fi and a pair of Headphones! It was clear she had rhythm in her blood and from that time on she would have never stopped singing.
In the early 70’s she was strongly influenced by soul, funky and disco music thanks to his brother who, at that time, was a radio dj. Little Monica used to “still” him his vinyls, she was in love with the “crackle” of the needle on the record! Even now She consider soul, bluse and R&B as the base of all the music that followed and still are her favourite genres ever.

She also lived the amaizing 80’s with the great band as Toto, Genesis and the first great european boy bands as Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet and Wham.
She had a great passion for music and singing and, just to have fun, she used to records demo tapes. One day, by mistake, an older friend of her listen to her tape and litterally forced her to go to an audition in a piano bar not far from where she lived. She could not immagine she can sing in front of someone who was not a friend or part of the family. The following night she sang for the first time in front of a public, she was scared to death, her hands were wet and her hearth was fast as a locomotive. Years later she would have said it was the best thing ever happened in her life. That night she sang so well that she was instantly “recruited” and started singing professionally.

She had been singing for a long time in the best clubs on the italian scene using the nickname Moony, given by her family and friends.
She attracted the attention of DJ/producer Agelino and Cristiano Spiller who asked her to add vocals and write some of his dance hits. From this venture were born “Positive”, her first single pubblished, and ”Batucada”.After this she was involved in a project called Angelmoon which led her to reach the Billbord chart in the US.

But it was with Point Of View, under the guidance of Frankie Tamburo and Mauro Ferrucci that Moony really started to get noticed.
DB Boulevard and Moony really rocked the house!!! No3 hit in Uk No1 hit in europe and Australia, Point of view climbed half of the world’s charts also crossing the Atlantic, topping the US Billboard club charts for four consecutive weeks.
The track went onto become one of the biggest dance songs ever, earning the distinction of being the first Italian group to be nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award.

While all of this was going on, Moony got down to the serious business of writing her debut solo album Lifestories, The first single taken from the record was Dove (I'll Be Loving You), which repeted the success had with Point of view. She appeared on the most famous tv programs as Top of the pops, Pepsi Chart, MTV and VIVA.
This was followed by the second single from the album “Acrobats Looking for balance” that, once again, climb at the top of all the dance charts in the world.
An explosive rhythm, touching lyrics and a unique voice allows Moony to become one of the greatest singer and song writer in the international dance scene of all times.
The third hit is called “Flying Away” with its catching “hook” was on Coca Cola advertising campaign for Asia.
Lifestories, her first solo album contains 3 Ballads which exalt the abilities of moony in writing pop music. 14 tracks that leads you through different styles evoking emotions and feelings hided in your deepest soul.
After many single taken out from the album and other and collaborations like De fact with Tommy Vee she wrote two more songs of great succes “For you love” and “He’s all I want “. After this she decided to test herself with other musical genres collaborating with musicians of great calibre, as Gianluca Mosole, writing and singing a moving song called “If you have a wish”.
She’s always been interested in spiritual search and selfsustainable projects in third world countries and after dedicating most of her life to music she decided to leave the business scene for a sabbatic year going back and forth from India, the place she likes to define “her second home and first love” to dedicate herself to these projects.
2008... SHE’S BACK! Finally, her new single “I don’t know why” it’s out now with three massive remixes. Jerome d’Isma-ae, one of the best remixer of the international dance scene, was able to create a great atmosphere with electronic strings and sinthetic chords that perfectly macht with the sweetness of a dreamy melody and the warmth of her stunning voice. On the other side the 90’s house taste version “Viale and dj Ross” gives to the song a happy uplifting flavour.
Little bird is tha title the work that follows, three great remixes and on the dance floors it’s delirium! She’s now preparing her new album for which she will be able to count on very important international collaborations from the dance world. We are sure it’s promised to be an incredible trip into music!
